BERLIN: Germany striker Miroslav Klose has said he might leave Kaiserslautern during the Bundesliga winter break if he got the right offer.
“At the moment I'm fully concentrating on Kaiserslautern but if I received a suitable offer, I would be ready to leave in the winter,” Klose told weekly Sport-Bild in an interview released a day before its publication yesterday.
Several leading clubs, notably German champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, have expressed interest in the 25-year-old, who burst into the limelight by scoring five goals in Germany's run to last year's World Cup final.
Kaiserslautern sold the transfer rights for Klose, whose contract runs until 2005, to the regional branch of lottery company Lotto last year because they needed the cash to escape financial collapse.
Lotto are guaranteed five million euros from his transfer fee. The rest would go to Kaiserslautern.
Klose, who last year turned down an offer to join Bayern for the 2004-05 season, said he wanted to join a club playing in the Champions League.
“That's the stage I want to and must play on,” he said.
“I would not go to any club willing to put six or seven million (euros) on the table.
“It has to be a club where I would feel good.”
Kaiserslautern, four-times German champions, lie 13th in the 18-strong Bundesliga 12 games into the season. Klose has scored six goals for them so far.
