Werder Offer Lisztes An Extension
Krisztian Lisztes
During Sundays game against VfL Bochum Krisztian Lisztes suffered a tear to the front cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out of contension for several months. The results of Mondays Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unfortunatly confirmed team doctor Dr. Götz Dimanskis' diagnosis.
Lisztes will travel to Straubing in Bayern on Wednesday where he will be examined by specialist Prof. Eichorn and prepared for future surgery.
After an intensive meeting with the Hungarian international, Werders commercial manager Klaus Allofs explained: "Losing him is bad for us. The situation is however much more precarious for Krisztian himself, who is out of contract at the end of the season. Krisztian Lisztes has proved positive for Werder Bremen and it is Werder tradition that we behave accordingly in these situations. After a discussion with the board of management we have agreed to offer him an extension to his contract, if he wishes. That is hopefully a small consolation for him at this dificult time.
