Winfried Hitzfeld, the brother of Swiss national coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, has died aged 82, on the eve of Switzerland’s World Cup round of 16 match with Argentina.

The news comes as a sad blow for the 65-year-old Swiss coach, who said on Monday that his side’s knockout match with World Cup favourites Argentina would be ‘the highlight’ of his long and glittering career. So I don’t think it’s going to be my last match.
