Die beiden niederländischen HSV-Stars Joris Mathijsen und Eljero Elia enthüllten das Stadion-Modell ihrer neuen Heimspielstätte und zeigten sich bei Champagner, Feuerwerk und Lightshow erfreut über die neue Partnerschaft. In Anlehnung an den Sitz des Mutterkonzerns des seit über 150 Jahre in Hamburg beheimateten neuen Namengebers werde der HSV jetzt nicht nur auf dem Platz, sondern auch auf dem Dach holländisch unterstützt, freuten sich die beiden Bundesliga-Profis. Auch Klaus Betz, der Geschäftsführer von Imtech Deutschland war begeistert. „Das Miniatur Wunderland ist mit seinen cirka einer Million Besuchern jährlich ein unglaublicher Besuchermagnet. Dass das Modell der Imtech Arena nun so vielen Besuchern fast zum Anfassen präsentiert wird, ist für uns eine große Freude.“

Für Frederik Braun, der die Umbauarbeiten im Miniatur Wunderland leitete, stand der Umbau des Miniatur-Stadions sofort fest, als er vom Sponsorwechsel gehört hatte. „Seit ich denken kann, bin ich HSV-Fan und immer noch über beide Ohren in meine Heimatstadt Hamburg verliebt“, so Braun. Dass ein Hamburger Unternehmen Namensgeber der Arena werde, habe er „absolut stimmig“ gefunden. Die etwa zwei Quadratmeter große Imtech Arena im Miniatur Wunderland entstand im Jahr 2003 in 1.200 Arbeitsstunden. Mit 12.000 Besuchern im Stecknadel-Format ist das Stadion ständig ausverkauft. 25 Werktage forderte der Umbau, bei dem neben der Dachbeschriftung auch die Werbung an den Treppen und Wänden des Stadions auf den neuen Sponsor umgestellt wurde.
