<>AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko's four goals in midweek have taken him above Raúl González in the all-time standings of leading scorers in UEFA club competition.

<>One ahead
The 29-year-old Ukrainian international stole the show in the Italian club's 4-0 demolition of Fenerbahçe SK in Istanbul on Wednesday. His four-goal haul, the first to be registered away from home in the UEFA Champions League, means he has 53 from 90 matches, one more than Real Madrid CF captain Raúl's 52 from 104 games.

<>Müller in front
Shevchenko is now just eight behind the record scorer Gerd Müller, who struck 61 times in 69 outings for FC Bayern München, and only one adrift of SL Benfica legend Eusébio who hit 54 from 72. However, it is Raúl, with 51, who has scored most of all in the UEFA Champions League proper, while Shevchenko has 40 in Europe's premier club competition.

<>Other challengers
The other leading marksmen still active in UEFA tournaments are Ruud van Nistelrooij (47 goals from 65 matches), Thierry Henry (47 from 95) and Henrik Larsson (46 from 84). Shevchenko though is favourite to overtake Müller, having scored prolifically since his UEFA club debut for FC Dynamo Kyiv exactly eleven years before his four-goal show.

<>Competition definition
UEFA club competition goals are defined as those coming in the UEFA Champions League/European Champion Clubs' Cup, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, UEFA Cup, UEFA Intertoto Cup and UEFA Super Cup. All goals in qualifying rounds count.
