Following newspaper reports stating that, should he have to stay at VfL Wolfsburg, he threatened with a refusal to perform, Edin Dzeko would like to take this opportunity to clarify exactly what he had said: "The remark that you will have to see how I play if I have to stay was not at all meant in the way it has been interpreted. Zvjezdan Misimovic, following a longer lay-off with a calf problem, today you were back on the ball in training. A good feeling?
Misimovic: "Of course! I was not able to participate in the game at the end of the session, but I will be back to full strength soon. It really made me angry that there were comments made that I am not injured at all but instead that I was feigning injury because I wanted to move. I would never do something like that."
VfL Wolfsburg have now put an end to the discussion on a transfer, stating that both yourself, as well as Edin Dzeko, are not for sale.
Misimovic: "The day before that I had held talks with Dieter Hoeneß and my agent. That was very constructive and we were able to rectify the friction that had developed. The club made it absolutely clear that they are planning with me and that they believe in me."
You did wish to move away from the club though?
Misimovic: "Yes, I stand by what I said! I just had the feeling that now is the time for something new for me but I have a valid contract and Dieter Hoeneß made the decision of the club very clear. My complete concentration is now set exclusively on VfL Wolfsburg. I will do all in my power to help the club to sporting success."
You’ve recently had a tough time with the Wolfsburg fans.
Misimovic: "Yes, it is true that I was the first one they whistled at. That does aggravate me. Otherwise I have no problem though, that’s something I can deal with. I know that on the pitch I often play with a lot of risk and that not everything I do always works out. Aside from that, it’s difficult for the fans to understand that my performances and the fact that I announced my wish to move have absolutely nothing to do with one another. I am a professional and I want to be successful with the team. We want to go for big things again with VfL Wolfsburg in the new season. The club is very ambitious."
