Before the game against Metalist Kharkiv coach Jupp Heynckes warned of being too sure because of the 4-0 win in the first leg.

At the press conference on Wednesday Heynckes talked about a “comfortable head start” as he already had stated right after the match. Nevertheless, the team would approach the match with full strength and concentration. “We beat Metalist Kharkiv higher than they had deserved. The team can play better than what they showed in the first leg. We would be wise to take the match seriously,” Heynckes said. It would be important for the team to gain more confidence through a good performance in the Europa League match before the next Bundesliga match on Sunday against Bremen.
Goalkeeper René Adler joined Heynckes at the press conference. He agreed with his coach but was also very confident: “We have a team that can achieve a lot, also in the Europa League. But for this we will have to show good performances in every game. This we did in the first leg against Metalist.”
Adler was the only player who Jupp Heynckes assured of a starting position for the match. Tomorrow the coach would rotate his starting formation again. However, the starting line-up would still be competitive and with well-known players. Who would start remained to be seen: “The players know me and my ways. So I assume that the players who will start tomorrow also know it.”
