Per Mertesacker set to join Arsenal

Arsenal has confirmed they have agreed terms with Werder Bremen to sign German international defender Per Mertesacker.

At 26, the 6ft 6in centre-back has significant experience at both club and international level.
Mertesacker has enjoyed eight seasons in the German top flight - five with Werder Bremen and three with Hannover 96 - making 221 league appearances in total and finding the net on 19 occasions. The former Werder Bremen captain also played 53 times in Europe for the Green-Whites, including the 2009 Europa League Final.

In 75 games for Germany, Mertesacker has helped his country to the Semi-Finals of the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and to the Final of the 2008 European Championship.

The deal is subject to the completion of formal registration processes

一方面来说，那批老球员整体水平高，另外就是可能和成长背景也有关系，不少人相比之后的球员更具开拓精神。

也不是啥开拓，还是艺高才人胆大，后来德国球员水平啥样，不护犊子的说，真不怎么样，当然没人要，去不去是一回事，连个传闻都没有，就说明问题了，所以球员自己也知道自己几斤几两，还去丢脸干吗。
看看，最近不就逐渐多起来了，实力更被认可了。
