Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro criticises Brazil coach Mano Menezes' handling of Neymar
The club supremo has hit out at the role the player has been given in national team affairs, claiming that the young forward has too much pressure put upon him
Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro insists that there is too much pressure on Neymar when he plays for Brazil.
The 19-year-old has recently become a regular fixture in the national side and is arguably one of coach Mano Menezes' first picks in the Brazilian frontline.
However, Neymar's role with the international team has come under scrutiny from his club president, who has attacked the former Corinthians coach for failing to get the most out of his player.
"I met Mano and he is a great person, but like any 'gaucho' he has a trait of stubbornness that prevents the people from seeing Neymar as a separate phenomenon for Brazil," Ribeiro told TV show Kajuru Pergunta.
"The pressure and pain he goes through [for Brazil] must be taken into account, and I do not see Mano using Neymar in the correct role for the Selecao."
