<P>To me, the fact that the FDB had applied to UEFA for additional players, that the application was accepted by UEFA, and that the other UEFA members complained is irrelevant to how I feel about the German team\'s victory. What is important is the German team won the tournament with a depleted squad, without using the additional player called up for the final. </P>
<P>The facts are a little less romantic than the legend that younger fans seem to have read about. But that has never made me any less proud of the 1996 European Champions! </P>
