He is probably naturally skinny, but as a professional footballer, especially a defender, at 1.7M and 64kg, Lahm is in fact underweight. He can use another 4 to 5 kg of muscles. I think he has put in a lot of work in the gym to build the necessary strength and muscles that will make him a better footballer. He reached the top level of professional football at a young age. For someone naturally slightly-built, it is probably not advisable to start intensive strength and weight training in their teens or early twenties. But he is now old enough and his body developed enough to go through the training to gain the necessary muscles, weight and strength that will make him an even better footballer.</p><p></p><p>As to his looking more \"mature\", that may also be deliberate. Despite being easy going and modest, he takes his career very seriouly. I am not surprised that he not only wants to be a great player, but he also wants to be a leader of his team. (He himself admits to being ambitious, and sees that as a positive trait in his character.) He has the mental maturity and the level-headedness to be a leader, but his baby face works against this ambition. (Who wants to be led by a kid, however mentally mature this \"kid\" may be?) So he may be deliberately trying not to look like a kid. And to be honest, at 24, he is not a kid. </p><p></p><p>I am sure a lot of his fans fell in love with him, at least partly, because of his boyish look and his boyish build.
