World spies on Reds

June 11, 2007 02:15am

otential Socceroo boss Juergen Klinsmann has been using global internet surveillance to keep an eye on Adelaide United and other A-League squads.

Klinsmann, who has been touted as a strong candidate to lead the Socceroos to the World Cup in 2010, is apparently already doing homework on his next possible assignment - a gig Down Under.

German football analyst Andreas Simon said Klinsmann had been known to surf the website www.transfermarkt.de which has listed Adelaide's squad market value at close to $4.4 million.

The website has a membership of more than 10,000 registered users with the site recording over 250,000 hits last month, Simon revealed.

"Klinsmann, (Werder Bremen striker) Miroslav Klose and (Chelsea's) Michael Ballack know this site and often keep an eye on it," Simon said.

"With the help from thousands of users - even professional player agents can make offers on this very special site.

"To keep the quality high, information must be proofed by a serious reference otherwise they won't use the information.

"It's made that way for example so that the uncle of the green keeper from Bayern Munich can't list AC Milan's Kaka with a figure he just made up."

Incredibly Adelaide's entire squad could be exchanged for Blackburn Rovers' David Bentley, who is almost worth the entire net worth of United, says Simon.

Simon said that Germany's Matthias Seidel was the brains behind the transfer market website.

Seidel is keeping an eye on the world transfer market including most of the A-League clubs except Wellington Phoenix, which is a brand new franchise, via the nation's official transfer market website.

"Matthias Seidel has been running this site since May 2000," Simon said.

"He started with nearly no money but nowadays it is his major income."

Seidel's site rates Perth Glory as the nation's richest club with the squad valued at $7.4m while Central Coast Mariners comes in last at $824,000.

Glory's Stan Lazaridis has the highest A-League price on his head at $4.5m while Australia's all-time leading goalscorer and Adelaide City player coach Damian Mori, 36, still attracts a $1.2m price tag.

Adelaide's newest signing Jonas Salley is worth $1.5m, according to the website.

Seidel's site has only priced Salley, Socceroo Travis Dodd, Dutch import Bobby Petta and new recruit Paul Agostino, who is still listed as a TSV Munich player, in Adelaide's squad.

Dodd is valued at $741,000, Petta is valued at $1.3m but is heading down the world charts in value while Agostino is worth $824,000.

Oddly enough Adelaide's other squad members have zero values next to their names.

Simon said the website was a good indicator for clubs on the hunt for global player bargains.

"Coaches and managers keep an eye on this site," he said.

"The news is always up to date and the information - for example of how much a player is worth or when his contract will finish - is 90 per cent accurate."

Simon said player agents set the initial value of a player's worth around the globe.

"layer agents pay $25 to get on the website list," he said.

"Most of them tell Seidel the amount they think the player is worth.

"Besides this, the site has developed a specially designed software which calculates the age, perspective, quality and contract time of a player.

"These parameters calculate the worth of a player.

"You can find a huge data base with information about players, coaches, managers, player agents, biographies and statistics about the European football leagues," Simon said.

Klinsmann, (Werder Bremen striker) Miroslav Klose and (Chelsea's) Michael Ballack know this site and often keep an eye on it," 这句一下子激动了的,嘿嘿。另外,the uncle of the green keeper from Bayern Munich 这个指的是咱们的狮王吗?
